The Girls Club of the Mid-Peninsula offers after-school programs to girls aged 6-15 belonging to the low income and ethnically diverse communities in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park. The Club provides a safe and inspiring space for girls to develop leadership skills through activities designed to meet their cultural, educational, aesthetic, social, mental and physical needs.

Girls Helping Girls (GHG) empowers girls to transform their world by mobilizing them to engage in cultural exchange, gain a global education and create and lead social change. GHG provides girls with the curriculum, toolkits and communication interface to discover their talents and translate passion to action through its innovative program.
GHG was founded in 2007 by Sejal Hathi, then a 15-year old high school student in Freemont, CA. Girls Helping Girls is now run exclusively by girls, for girls and was accorded the official status as Ashoka's Youth Venture organization. To learn visit the GHG web site.
Mind Body Awareness Project: San Francisco Bay Area, California
The Mind Body Awareness Project is a non-profit dedicated to teaching essential life skills to at-risk youth through the practices of meditation and yoga. In juvenile halls, high schools and group homes, Mind Body Awareness Project team meets teenagers whose habitual behaviors are leading them down a road to substance abuse, crime and violence. They provide instruction in awareness-based techniques, including nonsectarian meditation and yoga, to facilitate mental health, stress reduction, anger management and self-discovery.
