Local Efforts to Mitigate Climate Change

With the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) coming to a close, it's crucial to recognize local efforts to respond to climate change. One World Member Shared Action Africa (Uganda) builds the resilience and adaptive capacities of rural and refugee women to respond to the adverse effects of climate change by promoting climate-smart agriculture and sustainable energy, such as using clean cookstoves.

In addition to reducing her carbon footprint, the clean cookstove provided by Shared Action Africa helped Prossy (pictured), a mother of 5 and food vendor, significantly reduced her monthly energy costs enabling her to take more money home to her family.
